Stella Nash retired January 2017 after a career of 39 years with the United States Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Service where she served as the Regional Nutrition Director for the Mountain Plains Regional Office (MPRO) from 1990-2017.The MPRO covers 10 states and 30 Indian Tribal Organizations.
She is a Registered Dietitian, having completed her Dietetic Internship at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL.She received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Dietetics from the University of Arkansas- Pine Bluff, and a Masters Degree in Nutrition Education from New York University. In addition, she spent one year at The Penn State University studying Rural Sociology with an emphasis on nutrition and behavior.
In 2005 Stella represented the United States of America and presented eight nutrition sessions at the International Congress on Nutrition in Durban, South Africa. In 2016 she received the Rocky Mountain Eagle Award from the Colorado Federal Executive Board for Outstanding Customer Service. Also, in 2016 she was named the Outstanding Dietitian of the Year by the Colorado Academy of Nutrition and Dietetic. In 2017 the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics recognized her for her 50 years of continuous membership as a Registered Dietitian. May 2018 the Denver Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority presented her with the Irma Kelly Hudson Award for outstanding community service, participation and attendance in chapter projects. Stella has been a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority since 1962.
She is currently on the Board of Directors of LiveWell Colorado, and also on the Board of Montbello 20/20 a registered neighborhood organization.In addition, she spends time doing volunteer work throughout the community.
